| Friends of Edgemoor 2009 HOUSE & GARDEN TOUR |
|
Friends of Edgemoor is delighted to present the 2009 House and Garden Tour. The Edgemoor neighborhood was established in the early 1900's, as "Edgewood." An developer's brochure promoted the neighborhood, noting that “[t]he village of Bethesda is near at hand, with markets, stores, churches, schools and physician’s residences – while larger shops and dairies of the City have free daily deliveries to Edgewood.” Although the neighborhood and surrounding Bethesda have evolved greatly since then, many aspects of Edgemoor remain unchanged.
The House & Garden Tour celebrates the neighborhood's beauty and diversity. It also helps to ensure the continuance of that tradition. Edgemoor's streets are lined with hundred-year-old trees intermingled with young trees planted with funds raised by House & Garden Tours in years past. In addition, House & Garden Tour proceeds are used to support local charitable organizations. The 2007 Tour funded an organization working with people struggling with low vision as well as an organization that assists college-bound high school seniors from low-income families in our area.
